About Moheindu

Dearest friend,

Picture me at an antique mahogany desk, an amber and sandalwood candle flickering as Vivaldi plays softly, a perfectly frothed pumpkin spiced cappuccino close at hand. Sunlight spills through latticed windows, illuminating pages where stories bloom. My pen glides, gathering fragments of memory, wonder, beauty, and connection.

Born amid Nepal’s timeless peaks, I weave poetry, prose, essays, and translations from the threads of folklore, travel, beauty, and the quiet wisdom hidden in everyday life. Having lived and worked across countries and cultures, I carry their landscapes, voices, and stories with me.

Before devoting myself more fully to writing, I worked in humanitarian affairs and international development with United Nations entities including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO); the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC); the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ); and the governments of Nepal and Australia, to name a few. This work brought me close to questions of conflict, displacement, identity, human dignity, and belonging. The people I encountered, and the courage they carried, continue to shape the way I see the world and the stories I choose to tell.

I am also the granddaughter of historian and scholar Iman Singh Chemjong, whose lifelong dedication to preserving Kirati history, language, and culture remains one of my deepest inheritances. Through translation and storytelling, I hope to help carry ancestral voices into new places and new generations.

Books, chance encounters, winding paths, and cherished stories all find their home here.
